THURSDAY, JV vs. B-L: Kickoff will be at 7 PM. This is a paid LIVE scrimmage. Admission is $5.00 - CASH ONLY at the gate.
2022 result: We didn’t know it at the time - August 19 - but this would be the start of a remarkable 13-1 season for Clinton Red Devil Football, Head Coach Corey Fountain and coaches, and Red Devil Nation in 2022.
Clinton’s run-dominated offense rolled for more than 600 yards in a 55-20 win over Batesburg-Leesville, in a non-region tune-up to THE BIG GAME at home against Laurens (41-7 loser to Hillcrest).
Bryson James’ two 3rd quarter touchdowns against the tiring Panthers’ defense put the game away at 48-20. B-L had hung around with an 80-yard kickoff return touchdown, and an interception on a screen pass touchdown. A senior running back and outside linebacker, and team captain who eventually became the Laurens County Player of the Year, James racked up 159 yards on 8 carries. Do the math - that’s 19.9 yards per carry against a Panthers-busting offensive line.
