Posted

Laurens, SC–Laurens County First Steps, and local community organizations are teaming up to raise awareness and prevent child abuse, while celebrating childhood safety. On Thursday, April 11th, Laurens County First Steps invites children and families to The Ridge at Laurens (301 Exchange Rd, Laurens, SC 29360) for the Child Abuse Prevention/CelebrateSafe Children Event from 4p to 7p.

Laurens County First Steps is committed to promoting healthy families and improving the lives of young children. By working together, we can create a safer and more supportive community for our children to grow and thrive in.  To further support our community, we will collect non-perishable food, canned goods, and diapers for Family Promise. We would love for the business of Laurens County to be collection sites as well.  If you are interested, we will be happy to provide signage and a box.

This event is a fun and educational opportunity for families to come together and learn about child abuse prevention and to celebrate safe children. There will be food vendors, games, activities, and resources available for parents and children.  Local children performing and engaging speakers. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Robert Saul.  He is Professor of Pediatrics (Emeritus) at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Upstate and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Greenville, Greenville, SC.  The Children’s Museum of the Upstate will have the Imagination Playground.  Imagination Playground’s big blocks are an innovative playground equipment system that transforms any space into a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement, and, above all, fun.

We encourage everyone to join us for this important event, and celebrate safe children while we help spread the message that child abuse is preventable. Let’s come together to Celebrate Safe Children! Agencies, local community organizations, and non-profit organizations are invited to set up informational interactive booths during this event.  Pre-registration is necessary, https://forms.gle/w7jSrxtH8dnxxV7N7  or email erable@laurens55.org for further information.
