The City of Clinton has issued this statement:
“Please make plans to join us as we kick off the 2023 Christmas season in the City of Clinton with our annual Christmas Tree on Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m. Bring the entire family out for carriage rides and free hot chocolate compliments of the Vestibule. Carriage rides will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone 12 and over, and those 11 and younger are free. Tickets are available for purchase now at the Bailey Municipal front desk. All proceeds for the carriage will go to Clinton Community Cares.
“Clinton Community Cares is a fund set by the City Council in 2015 for a program developed to assist those struggling to pay their utility bills. This fund still exists, and United Ministries administers funds received for this program.
“You may contribute through your monthly utility bill or make a one-time donation to the utility billing office by directing your donation to Clinton Community Care.
“Monthly donations may be made in the following amounts: $.50, $1.00, $2.50, $5.00, $7.50, and $10.00. For more information regarding Clinton Community Cares please contact the Utility Billing Office at 864-833-2790.

Also, Whitten Center Christmas Parade is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, directly after the Clinton parade (9 a.m.), at 28373 US-76, Clinton. The Laurens Parade is Saturday afternoon/evening, and the Joanna Parade is Sunday afternoon.
College continues holiday
tradition with ‘Christmas
at Presbyterian College 2023’
Presbyterian College’s Music Department has issued this release:
This year, a time-honored tradition sparking the holiday spirit for college and community continues with “Christmas at Presbyterian College 2023.”
The Department of Music’s annual Christmas program will premiere at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in Belk Auditorium. A second matinee performance will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. According to choral director and professor of music Dr. Christian Elser, this year’s show incorporates performers from nearly every corner of the college’s music. In addition to the PC Choir and the PC Orchestra, the show includes performances from:
•Bella Voce, the women’s choir
•The PC Jazz Band
•The college’s string and piano ensembles
Featured soloists include musical faculty members Dr. Jim Buckland on classical guitar and Dr. Richard Thomas on the cello. Student performers include Habana Rubio and Liliana Weathers, playing piano, and several vocal and instrumental solos sprinkled throughout the show.
Elser also promises a mix of secular and sacred holiday music and a variety of classical and popular pieces.
“If you love sacred Christmas music, you’re not going to be disappointed,” he said. “And if you like to hear ‘Carol of the Bells’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas,’ you’re also going to enjoy it. We always like to add some congregational singing, as well, so ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ is still going to open it and ‘O, Come All Ye Faithful’ is still going to close the show. That never changes – we’ve had that from day one.”
Elser said singers and instrumentalists began work on the program at the beginning of the fall semester in August and are eager to greet the community onstage and spark their holiday spirit.
“’ Christmas at Presbyterian College’ really kicks off the season for me, too,” he said. “It’s a visceral experience. That’s what the performing arts are intended to be – to move someone.
“It’s important for people to see what we do here in the Department of Music, how integral music is to the human experience. I always say it kind of speaks to our common humanity. There’s a religious aspect to this, of course, because it’s Christmas, so people will feel very touched by that, as well.”

December 5 & 7
It’s a Crafty December at the Clinton Library!
Start December with fun crafts at the Clinton Library. First, on December 5th at 11 am, we’ll fashion snowflakes from paper bags while sharing our favorite holiday stories at our Snow and Tell program. Anyone aged 8 and above is welcome. The little ones have their fun day on December 7, 4 pm. Children 0-5 years of age will decorate paper Christmas trees at our Preschool Picasso program. We provide the materials.
Santa Loves Libraries!
Laurens—This year you have two chances to visit with Santa at the Laurens Libraries. He drops by the Clinton Library on December 14th . He stops in at the Laurens Library on December 20. Both programs will start at 4pm. We’ll have cookies and juice, songs, and stories. Tell Santa what you want this Christmas and have your picture taken. It’s a ho, ho holiday at the Laurens Libraries!

Dec. 9 - A Country Christmas - Hickory Tavern Fire Department, parade starts at 4:30 pm, join us for more fun after the parade at the HT Fire Department.
